  7. FEDIX is an on-line information service that links the higher education
  8. community and the federal government to facilitate research, education,
  9. and services. The system provides accurate and timely federal agency 
  10. information to colleges, universities, and other research organizations. 
  11.  
  12. FEDIX provides daily information updates on: 
  13.  
  14.   - Federal EDUCATION and RESEARCH PROGRAMS (including descriptions, 
  15.     eligibility, funding, deadlines).
  16.   - SCHOLARSHIPS, FELLOWSHIPS, and GRANTS
  17.   - Available used government RESEARCH EQUIPMENT
  18.   - New funding for specific research and education activities from
  19.     the COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY, FEDERAL REGISTER, and other sources.
  20.   - MINORITY ASSISTANCE research and education programs
  21.   - NEWS & CURRENT EVENTS within participating agencies
  22.   - GENERAL INFORMATION such as agency history, budget, organizational
  23.     structure, mission statement, etc.

  25. PARTICIPATING AGENCIES
  26.  
  27. Currently FEDIX provides information on 10 federal agencies. The
  28. Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Naval Research (ONR), National
  29. Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Air Force Office of Scientific
  30. Research (AFOSR), and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are providing 
  31. comprehensive education- and research-related agency information, while the 
  32. National Science Foundation (NSF), Department of Housing and Urban 
  33. Development (HUD), Department of Commerce (DOC), Department of Education
  34. (DOEd) and National Security Agency (NSA) are providing minority assistance
  35. information, exclusively. Additional government agencies are expected to join 
  36. FEDIX in the future.
